• The PLATFORM 20/20’s flexibility comes from it’s unique, patented, shuttle/retrieval module. The module, located between the unwind and the drawhead, buffers material to allow detected faults to be retrieved, corrected and re-inspected in one pass. No longer will you have to inspect and repair in one direction, re-inspect in reverse and then reverse again to slit and rewind. This means much less damage to your labels while giving you maximum roll quality.

• A full range of options are available for the 20/20. The selection of sensor based inspection is oriented to label processing and enhances unsupported film processing. Vision based inspection can also be added to the 20/20 to give you the highest level of 100% inspection available.

• Best of all, the 20/20 is fast. Sensor based inspection can be done at speeds up to 935 feet per minute, web conditions permitting.
  
  

• A PLATFORM 20/20 system is made up of four modules. They are the Unwind, Shuttle/Retrieval, Inspection and Main modules.

• All PLATFORM 20/20s, currently available in either 13 or 16-inch web width configurations, are equipped with an advanced multiprocessor counter and machine controller.

• Available with a host of standard and optional features, the 20/20 can handle unwind rolls up to 40-inches in diameter and build rewind rolls up to 24-inches on either single or duplex shafts. An ergonomically positioned inspection/repair table is an excellent length for comfortable and natural left to right visual inspection. The web guide, located after the inspection/repair table, accurately tracks the web into the drawhead and slitting section to ensure square rolls (rolls without sidelay build-up) are made every time.

• Not only will you appreciate the 20/20, your operators will too. The machine controls are conveniently located on the front side of the inspection/splicing table with broad visibility of the: Data screen, unwind roll, slitting section and rewind roll(s) all while the machine is running.
  
  

How does it work?

• The PLATFORM 20/20 is a powerful yet easy to use system. Once the web to be processed has been threaded through the machine, your operator selects the system configuration to use from the control panel. When the automatic calibrations are completed and the system is ready to run, your operator presses the start button.

• If a fault is detected, the system stops, trapping the fault in the shuttle/retrieval module. Once stopped, material movement before and after the shuttle ceases. The shuttle is then reversed to accurately position the fault on the inspection/repair table where it can be repaired. As soon as the operator has taken the appropriate corrective action, she presses the Error Reset button to notify the system that the fault has been corrected.

• With the notification, the shuttle continues to reverse to position the corrected section of the web before the inspection devices. The shuttle then advances the web through the detection devices for re-inspection. If acceptable, the shuttle continues to advance until the web is repositioned to the point at which it was when the system stopped. The system then resumes normal inspection, slitting and rewinding functions.

• If waste web has to be removed, the operator cuts the web on the inspection/repair table and attaches the beginning of the bad web to the optional waste rewind. When all of the bad web has been rewound, the operator splices the two good sections together and continues roll processing. Alternatively, the operator can elect to manually pull the bad web through from the unwind.
  
  

The Electronic Multiprocessor Counter and Machine Controller

• The controller uses a bright, LCD display with a touch screen panel and membrane keypad. Large, easy-to-read counts and system status messages are clearly displayed for your operator. And, counter offers a guided, step by step set-up procedure to walk your operator through the make-ready.

The Electronic Counter also supports features such as:

• Single and dual count accumulators
• Secure Count (Window Error Detection)
• Finished roll count
• Sensor parameter set-up

The counter also supports a full range of sensors such as: flag/splice (FSD), MMLD, barcode verifiers and vision systems.
